History of the gallery

The Gallery of Naive Artists was established in 1971 with the task of collecting, documenting, preserving, interpreting and studying naive and self-taught art. The first premises of the gallery were in the old school, then it was moved to the rectory. From 2004 the gallery is housed on Goliev trg. Since 1971 the gallery periodically organised the Salon (exhibition of selected authors). The quality of the works was highlighted by the selection made by the Art Board members.
From inception, the gallery established many international connections, presented the works from the collection in Slovenia and abroad, as well as prepared several presentations of foreign institutions on the premises.
